Files¶
Self-hosted file sync & share — your own Dropbox/Google Drive ·
https://ocis.fmm.house
What it's for¶
Files is our private cloud storage, running ownCloud Infinite Scale (oCIS). Keep documents, photos, and anything else in one place, reach them from any device, and share them with other people in the house. Because it lives on our own hardware, nothing leaves the network unless you explicitly hand someone a link — and even then only people on the LAN or Tailscale can open it.
Getting in¶
- Open:
https://ocis.fmm.house— on the home Wi-Fi/LAN, or from anywhere with Tailscale connected. - Sign in: with your own oCIS account (username + password). If you don't have one yet, ask the admin to create it.
How to use it¶
The web interface¶
- Drag files onto the page to upload, or use the New button to make folders and upload files.
- Click a file to preview it — images, PDFs, text, and Office documents open right in the browser.
- Select a file and use the toolbar (or right-click) to download, rename, move, copy, or delete.
- Use the search box at the top to find files by name across your storage.
Desktop & mobile sync¶
- Install the ownCloud Desktop client (Windows/macOS/Linux) or the ownCloud mobile app.
- When it asks for a server, enter
https://ocis.fmm.house, then log in with your account. - The desktop client keeps a folder on your computer in sync both ways; the mobile app lets you browse, upload photos, and make files available offline.
Note
The sync clients only reach the server when you're on the LAN or connected to Tailscale, just like the web UI.
Sharing¶
- Open a file or folder's menu and choose Share.
- With people: invite another oCIS user and pick their permission (view or edit).
- Via link: create a share link you can send. You can set it to view-only or allow uploads, and add a password or expiry date. Remember the recipient still needs LAN or Tailscale access to open it.
Spaces¶
- Spaces are self-contained storage areas. Your Personal space is your own files.
- Project Spaces are shared areas for a topic or group — everyone added to the space sees the same files, with their own permissions. Switch between spaces from the Spaces section in the sidebar.
Tips¶
- Deleted something by accident? Check Deleted files (trash) to restore it before it's purged.
- Turn on the mobile app's auto-upload to back up your phone's camera roll into your Personal space automatically.
- Link shares are only as private as the network — they are not public, so anyone you send one to must be on the LAN or Tailscale.
